CuNi44 Resistance Wire
The workhorse of the copper-nickel resistance family: high resistivity for a copper alloy, good corrosion resistance, and it solders easily — which is why it turns up in places where a nickel-chrome wire would be awkward to terminate.

Questions we get asked
Can CuNi44 be soldered?
Yes, which is one of its practical advantages over nickel-chrome. It also welds, but solder termination is common in instrument work.
What is the difference between CuNi44 and constantan?
They are close relatives — both around 45 % nickel in copper, both near 0.49 µΩ·m. Constantan is the thermocouple-grade designation with tighter control on the EMF against copper; CuNi44 is the resistance-alloy designation. Tell us which property you are buying and we will supply the matching grade.
