Copper-Nickel Low-Resistance Wire - NC003 to NC050

A graded copper-nickel low-resistance alloy series to GB/T 6454-2008, covering resistivities of roughly 0.03 to 0.50 microhm-metre. The standard material behind shunts, sampling resistors, power and braking resistors and load banks.

Values above are nominal. Composition, resistivity, temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) and thermal EMF are confirmed by the inspection report issued with each shipment - this page confirms feasibility and range, it is not the inspection certificate.

Where this grade is specified.

  • Shunt and sampling resistors for meters, BMS, storage and chargers
  • Wire-wound, cement, power and braking resistors
  • Load banks and low-temperature heating elements
  • Consistent batch behaviour within a grade, so resistance targets hold

More nickel, higher resistivity. Pick the grade whose resistivity hits your target value per length - NC003 is the lowest, NC050 the highest, and at the top of the series the behaviour approaches Monel. Where the resistance must stay constant across a temperature swing rather than hit a target value, a low-TCR alloy (constantan or manganin) is the better choice - shunt material choice.

Export note - nickel-containing material to the United States: assess California Prop 65 (metallic nickel is listed with no safe harbour). To the EU: observe REACH nickel release limits and the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), which applies from 2026-06-01 and requires an EU-based responsible person. Bare alloy wire is a raw material, not a finished electrical device, so UL / CSA / CE device marks do not apply to it. Composition, resistivity, TCR and thermal EMF are stated as nominal on this page and are confirmed by the inspection report issued with each shipment.
