Type E Thermocouple Wire

The highest EMF output of the base-metal thermocouples — roughly 68 µV/K — which makes it the practical choice when the readout has limited resolution. Positive leg NiCr, negative leg constantan.

Questions we get asked
Is type E the highest output base-metal thermocouple?
Yes — about 68 µV/K at room temperature, the highest of the common base-metal types. That is why it is used where signal resolution is the constraint.
Can it be used below 0 °C?
Yes, and it is one of the better base-metal choices for low temperature because of the large Seebeck coefficient.
