Manganin Wire 6J8

Manganin is a copper-manganese-nickel alloy engineered so that its resistance changes as little as possible with temperature. 6J8 sits at the lower-resistivity end of the Chinese 6J series, used where a slightly lower resistance value and good stability are wanted together.

Questions we get asked
Why is the service temperature limit so low?
Because the value of manganin is its near-zero temperature coefficient, and that property degrades once the alloy is held hot. It is a measurement material, not a heating material.
How is 6J8 different from 6J12?
Mainly resistivity level and the exact manganese/nickel balance; 6J12 is the more common general-purpose grade. Tell us the resistance per metre you need and we will propose the grade.
